Whitworth win streak reaches 12

Nate Montgomery scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the first half to help the 22nd-ranked Whitworth Pirates run their winning streak to 12 with a 75-52 rout of the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in Northwest Conference action Saturday in Tacoma.

Bo Gregg came off the bench to score 14 and grab a game-high nine rebounds for the Pirates (13-2, 6-0).

Reserve Curtis Trondsen led PLU (6-7, 4-2) with 18 points. The Lutes shot just 19 percent (5 of 26) from the floor in the second half.

CC Spokane 80, Yakima Valley 71: Griffon Jones posted a double-double – 17 points, game-high 15 rebounds – and Chris Pynch added 16 points, hitting 11 of 15 free-throws, and eight assists to propel the Sasquatch (12-3, 2-1) to a win over the visiting Yaks (7-8, 1-2) in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges action.

Derrick January scored 20 to pace Yakima Valley, which led by eight points at halftime.

North Idaho 66, Eastern Utah 62: Idell Bell tallied 16 points, Renado Parker scored 13 and Guy-Mark Michel added 11 points and six rebounds to help the first-place Cardinals (19-2, 9-2) rally from a seven-point halftime deficit to beat the visiting Golden Eagles (12-7, 6-4) in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
