Sued Sacramento Kings rookie Tyreke Evans is being sued over a fatal shooting committed by a teenage cousin in his vehicle. Evans is among four people being sued over the November 2007 drive-by shooting near his home in Chester, just south of Philadelphia. Jamar Evans is serving a 9- to 20-year prison term after admitting he fired out the passenger-side door and killed 19-year-old Marcus Reason. Jamar Evans was 16 at the time.

Scheduled Former coach Mike Leach and Texas Tech will have their say in court after weeks of trading accusations following his suspension and firing last month. Leach, fired Dec. 30 amid allegations he mistreated a player with a concussion, will not be in court today when his attorneys argue to speed up gathering depositions and documents in a lawsuit against Texas Tech. The suit includes allegations of libel and slander, breach of contract and violation of Texas’ Whistleblower Act.

Resigned The parting of Tony George from the management of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is complete. George, who was ousted as the CEO last June, has resigned from the board of directors that oversees the speedway and the family business, Hulman & Co.

Retired Veteran Michael Peca is retiring after 13 seasons as one of the top two-way forwards in the NHL. The 35-year-old center called it quits after going unsigned this offseason.

Recovering The U.S. soccer team got good news when Fulham said Clint Dempsey’s injured right knee won’t need surgery. The 26-year-old attacker was injured during Sunday’s English Premier League game at Blackburn, and Fulham manager Roy Hodgson had feared Dempsey had torn his posterior cruciate ligament.

Named University of Montana football coach Robin Pflugrad has named Rob Oviatt as the Grizzlies’ strength and conditioning coach. Oviatt was assistant athletic director for strength and conditioning at Washington State from 2000-08.

Hired Former San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Nolan has been hired as Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator, less than 24 hours after leaving the Denver Broncos.
