Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre – Auditions for “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “Cinderella,” “Pump Boys and Dinettes,” and “Hairspray,” Feb. 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at North Idaho College, 1000 W. NEWAArts Classes – Beginning Drawing: Covers basic techniques with emphasis on contour drawing. Students provide their own materials. Sunday, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., cost is $25. Call for writers

Children’s Poetry Contest – Spokane County students from grades 1-12 are invited to submit up to three poems no longer than 21 lines each. Finalists will be read onstage by Spokane-area actors during the Get Lit! literary festival in April 2010. Winning author will receive a free class at the Spokane Civic Theatre Academy. Poems may be on any subject appropriate for a family audience and should be the original work of the author. Entry deadline is Jan. 31.
