Williams’ new crossword takes place of Newsday’s version

We’re launching a new crossword puzzle this week from a familiar name.

Monday through Saturday, we’ll be running the daily puzzle by Wayne Robert Williams. He edited the Tribune crossword that we used to carry before it was discontinued last spring.

Williams’ new puzzle replaces the Newsday crossword that had been running in place of the Tribune crossword. Many readers told us the Newsday puzzle was too easy at the beginning of the week and too hard at the end.

Three dozen of our most avid crossword readers worked samples of Williams’ puzzle and the vast majority of them were happy with it. We hope you will be, too.
