Right lacks compassion

The Spokesman-Review

One thing that has always bothered me about political conservatives is that for the most part they lack compassion for those in need.

The latest example is Rush Limbaugh’s statement that we should not give money to help Haitians recover from the terrible earthquake they experienced because our taxes are being used to do that.

Rush is an entertainer. He has to create controversy to keep his radio ratings up. This is not the first time he has gone too far. While he sits in his mansion with his millions of dollars worth of wealth, people are dying in the streets of Haiti from disease, injuries and starvation.

It is also sad that there are millions of Americans who let Rush form their opinions.

Compassion is central to living a Christian life. I guess I am not religious enough to understand why conservatives, especially Christians, don’t exhibit this.
