Reunited The Baltimore Orioles and Miguel Tejada are headed toward a reunion. This time, however, Tejada will play third base instead of shortstop. Tejada and the Orioles have agreed on a one-year contract, pending a physical, the infielder confirmed. Tejada made more than $14 million with the Houston Astros in 2009, the final season of a six-year, $72 million contract he signed with the Orioles.

Out Phoenix Suns guard Leandro Barbosa will have surgery to remove a cyst on his right wrist and is expected to be sidelined for a month. Barbosa had the cyst drained in November but it returned and had been increasingly bothering him for the past two weeks.

•Florida Panthers right wing Nathan Horton will miss four to six weeks with a fractured tibia. Panthers GM Randy Sexton said Horton’s injury doesn’t require surgery. Some of his recovery will occur during the NHL’s Olympic break in February, which Sexton called a “silver lining.” Horton was hit in the leg with a puck Thursday night in Florida’s 2-1 loss to the New York Islanders.

Shuffle Former Buffalo Bills assistant Eric Studesville has been hired as the Denver Broncos’ new running backs coach, replacing longtime assistant Bobby Turner, who has rejoined Mike Shanahan in Washington. Studesville’s hiring was one of many coaching staff changes the team announced. Bob Ligashesky is the tight ends coach, replacing Clancy Barone, who moves to offensive line coach. Bob Wylie was made Barone’s assistant, and Ben McDaniels – coach Josh McDaniels’ brother – was promoted to quarterbacks coach. The Broncos haven’t replaced defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, who left after one season, along with Turner and offensive line coach Rick Dennison, who joined the Houston Texans’ staff.
