CdA hangs on to turn back T-Wolves

Amanda Buttrey scored 23 points Friday to lead the Coeur d’Alene Vikings to a 62-52 Inland Empire 5A victory over Lake City.

The host Timberwolves (13-6, 2-4) cut a 14-point deficit to two in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings (17-2, 4-1) closed the game on an 11-3 run to preserve the win.

Sydney Butler of Lake City led all scorers with 29 points, hitting 10 of 13 free-throw attempts. She scored 23 in the second half to shrink the first-half deficit.

Panorama

St. George’s 41, Springdale 25: With first place in the Panorama 2B standings on the line, St. George’s came out firing, shooting 50 percent in the first quarter as the Dragons (17-2, 12-1) knocked off host Springdale (17-3, 11-3).

Chessey Thomas had 17 points to lead the Dragons, who held the Chargers to 1-of-12 shooting in the opening frame to take an 18-3 lead, avenging an earlier loss to the Chargers this season.

Columbia 70, Northport 18: Krista Colvin led three players in double figures with 15 points, adding eight rebounds and five steals, and Salena Osborne chipped in 12 points for the Lions (16-3, 13-1) against the Mustangs (3-13, 2-11) in Hunters.

Cusick 59, Wellpinit 51: Andrea Heinen and Lydia Treischel combined for 33 points for the Panthers (6-11, 5-8) and Treischel hit a pair of free throws at the 1:13 mark in the fourth quarter to put the Redskins (7-10, 6-7) away in Cusick.

Republic 45, Selkirk 39: Alyssa Stout had 14 points, Tori Orestad added 12 and the Tigers (15-3, 12-2) outscored the Rangers (7-12, 6-8) 18-4 from the free-throw line, picking up the win in Ione.

Daneen Green scored 12 and Courtney Holter added 11 for the Rangers, who led by four at halftime, but could not hold off Republic, which outscored the Rangers 29-22 in the second half.

Curlew 60, Inchelium 32: Larissa Miller led all scorers with 14 points and the Cougars (8-9, 6-8) outscored the Hornets (1-16, 1-12) 15-4 in the first quarter and 22-5 in the third, starting quickly in each half in Curlew.

Great Northern

West Valley 47, Colville 35: Shaniqua Nilles scored 12 of the Eagles’ (13-0, 7-0) 13 points in the fourth quarter, including hitting 10 of 10 free-throw attempts, finishing with 24 points to push them past the Indians (9-4, 4-3) in Colville.

WV scored 15 of its 26 points in the second half from the free-throw line to overtake the Indians after trailing 24-21 by halftime.

Pullman 60, Cheney 36: Jordan Levenseller’s 15 points paced the Greyhounds (10-4, 7-1), who forced 27 turnovers, outscoring the Blackhawks (7-7, 3-5) 40-16 in the first and third quarters in Cheney.

Shelby Cheslek added 14 points for the Greyhounds.

Deer Park 60, Riverside 47: Stacia Obert, Amanda Magney and Alison Ruygrok combined for 52 of the Stags’ (4-9, 1-6) points against the Rams (2-11, 0-7), with Obert hitting 7 of 8 from the floor for 19 points and Magney hitting five 3-pointers and finishing with 18 points in Riverside.

Northeast A

Freeman 84, Chewelah 14: Korina Baker had 15 points and Molly and Megan McIntyre combined for 24 points as the Scotties (17-1, 5-1) jumped out to a 19-2 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

The host Cougars committed 35 turnovers.

Kettle Falls 61, Newport 54: Nikka Yankus completed a three-point play with a minute and a half remaining to push the Bulldogs (11-6, 3-3) up by five over the Grizzlies (10-9, 3-4) to secure the win in Kettle Falls.

Samantha Charlton led all scorers with 19 points for the Bulldogs, while Taylor Lewis notched 18 for Newport.

Bi-County 2B

Reardan 50, Liberty 41: Kelsey Moos had 21 points and six steals and the Indians (15-2, 9-1) used 10 first-half steals to help create a 17-point halftime lead in Reardan.

Kelly Hennessey had 19 points for the Lancers (10-7, 3-6).

Valley Christian 55, Davenport 42: Katie Worley had 21 points, 16 rebounds and 10 steals to record a triple-double for the Panthers (8-9, 2-7).

The Gorillas (6-11, 1-8) fell short despite 19 points from Miranda Mielke at Valley Christian.

Colfax 53, Northwest Christian 31: Kayla Johnson notched her fourth consecutive double-double against the Crusaders (8-9, 4-5), scoring 20 points to go with 11 rebounds, and adding five steals as the Bulldogs (14-3, 8-1) outscored NWC 30-14 in the first half in Colfax.

Bi-County 1B

Odessa 48, Wilbur-Creston 45: Mariah Davidson scored seven of her 18 points in the fourth quarter for the visiting Tigers (3-15, 2-2) and the Wildcats (2-17, 0-6) fell just short of their first league win when desperation 3-pointer fell short.

The Tigers trailed by six after three quarters, but outscored WC 19-10 in the fourth.

District 9 North

St. John-Endicott 61, LaCrosse-Washtucna 37: Kelly Van Lith recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, adding six steals, and the Eagles (15-1, 6-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season with a sound defeat of the visiting Tigercats (6-12, 1-7).

Colton 75, Rosalia 23: Kelsey and Haley Moser combined for 30 points and Kaitlin Druffel’s eight points in the first quarter helped spark the Wildcats (17-0, 7-0) to a 17-2 lead after the opening frame against the Spartans (10-8, 5-3) in Colton.

Asotin 51, Garfield-Palouse 22: Shelby Barnes had 14 points and the Panthers (10-7, 4-0) knocked off the Vikings (2-13, 0-4) behind a 25-0 third quarter that turned a two-point lead into 27 going into the final quarter in Asotin.

Kacie Adair had 11 points to lead the Vikings.

North Star

Clark Fork 51, Mullan 19: Shaina Gustafson collected a rare type of double-double, adding 11 steals to her 14 points, as the Wampus Cats (12-5, 6-0) remained unbeaten in league play with a win over the Tigers (5-10, 2-5) in Clark Fork.

Nonleague

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 57, Lind-Ritzville 46: Madeline Isaak led three players in double figures with 18 points and Sarah Gloyn added 15 with six boards as the Warriors (15-2) outlasted the visiting Broncos (9-8).

Lewiston 63, Clarkston 41: Jessica Kramer had 17 points, Nicole Redd added 13 and the Bengals (15-2) steadily outpaced the Bantams (6-7) in Lewiston.

The fourth quarter was the biggest difference, as the Bengals outscored Clarkston 16-8 to pull away.
