In brief: Shorelines topic of open house

From Local Reports

SPOKANE VALLEY – The community is invited to an open house at Spokane Valley City Hall on Thursday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to receive an update on the Spokane Valley Shoreline Master Program.

Residents will have the opportunity to view maps, ask questions, and share input with staff members. A presentation on the program will begin at 5:45 p.m.

The meeting may be of interest to community members who own property along, or are interested in development along shorelines, to learn more and share input on updating the program, which outlines policies and regulations governing construction, development and preservation in shoreline areas. Areas addressed include those within 200 feet of the shorelines of the Spokane River, Shelley Lake and the Central Pre-Mix and Flora Road gravel pits.

Spokane Valley currently operates under a Shoreline Master Program that was developed by Spokane County and was adopted as an interim plan at incorporation. The update will be reflective of Spokane Valley’s specific needs and goals

For a copy of the Interim Shoreline Master Program, visit www.spokanevalley.org. A copy is also available for review at Spokane Valley City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave., Suite 106.
