LC rolls by Shadle

Lewis and Clark took its turn atop the Greater Spokane League during Friday night girls basketball, and did so emphatically.

The home-standing Tigers (11-5, 9-2 GSL) smoked Shadle Park 65-41 in a league that seems to rearrange itself with every outing.

LC, one of three teams with two league losses, handed the Highlanders (9-6, 6-3) their third.

LC executed well on offense and defense in building an 18-point halftime lead. The hosts blitzed Shadle 24-11 in the second quarter. Hayley Hendricksen, one of four double-figure scorers for the Tigers, had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Shadle’s Aleisha Hathaway led all scorers with 18.

Central Valley 53, Mt. Spokane 48: The Bears (11-4, 8-2) kept pace, but victory didn’t come easy on the Wildcats’ (3-13, 2-8) court. Mt. Spokane struggled shooting from outside and fell behind by 10 points at half. But the Wildcats outscored CV in both quarters of the second half.

CV finished with seven 3-pointers, three by Kelsey Matthews, who had 21 points. Brooke Gallaway added 13. Mt. Spokane’s Alyssa Lloyd had 16 and Kennadie Clute 13.

University 52, East Valley 34: The host Titans (6-9, 4-6) broke a tie in the GSL standings with the Knights (4-12, 3-7). They built most of their lead in the second half. Zoe Scott scored 18 points and had eight rebounds, Nyesha Joseph added 12 points and nine rebounds.

Gonzaga Prep 71, Rogers 28: Six of the visiting Pirates’ (0-16, 0-10) field goals were 3-pointers, but the Bullpups (11-5, 7-4) proved overwhelming. They had 29 steals as freshman Madison Wright, in a varsity callup, recorded eight and scored nine points. Tia Presley finished with 18 for G-Prep. Rogers’ Anna Troung made four 3-pointers.

North Central 51, Ferris 35: The visiting Indians (9-6, 6-3) shot 40 percent from the field and the Saxons (3-12, 2-8) shot 21 percent – spelling the difference. NC pulled away in the second half. Riley Holsinger scored 16 points with 10 rebounds for the Indians and Tara Van Weerdhuizen added 13 and 11.
