Founders not resting in peace

The Spokesman-Review

Listen carefully. That faint rumble you hear is George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison, Patrick Henry, Nathan Hale, Ben Franklin and thousands of other statesmen and patriots turning over in their graves because of the Supreme Court’s unbelievable decision to put our nation’s elections in the hands of the fat cats.

The same fat cats that will get $1.5 billion in bonuses from Wall Street banking institutions. These are the same fat cats who had their hands out to us taxpayers two years ago when they were begging for bailouts.

The Supreme Court, pulling the restraints from campaign spending, puts candidates up for sale in this era of multimillion-dollar campaigns.

You and I and most of middle America can’t afford to dole out thousands of dollars for campaign contributions, but the fat cats can and will.

So good luck to our country and deepest apologies to our Founding Fathers and patriots. I wonder if Nathan Hale would still regret he had only one life to give for this country.
