VBS themes include ‘Shout,’ ‘Miracle’

Two more Valley churches are gearing up for vacation Bible school sessions in the coming weeks. The camps are a great way to keep kids entertained during the summer.

• Redeemer Lutheran Church will have its free VBS session July 12-16. There will be music, crafts, drama and other activities built around the theme “Shout It Out!” The camp is open to age 3 through the sixth grade and will run from 9 to 11:50 a.m. daily.

• “The Miracle Man” vacation Bible school will be held July 19-23 at Christ Lutheran Church. Sessions will run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day for children ages 4-12. There will be snacks, and each child will receive a T-shirt. The cost is $10 per child with a maximum of $20 per family.

There will be a barbecue fundraiser on the last day of VBS at 11:30 a.m. Hot dogs, chips and sodas will be available to purchase with proceeds benefiting Christ Lutheran Child Center.

Family Fun Festival

Foothills Community Church will host a Family Fun Festival next Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be carnival games, face painting, a pie-eating contest, a scavenger prize hunt, a hula hoop competition, a three-legged race and more. There will also be a car show, live music, food and a craft fair. The church is at 11102 N. Forker Road.

Festival of foods

A potluck lunch featuring favorite cultural or ethnic dishes is planned for noon Sunday at the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave. The children of the church will have a display of information about the Nazarene missions in Central and South americas.

Rummage sale

St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church will host its annual rummage sale Friday and next Saturday. Hours for both days will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no admission charge. The church is at 410 N. Farr Road.
