A memorial service for a 23-year-old Marine killed last month during combat operations in Afghanistan will be today in Spokane Valley.

Services for Cpl. Joshua R. Dumaw are planned for 3 p.m., at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road.

Dumaw was a military policeman assigned to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force based in Cherry Point, N.C. He was killed while on patrol June 22 in the Nimruz province.

He leaves behind his wife, Kailyn, and an unborn child. A memorial fund has been set up for the child’s college education. Donations can be made in Dumaw’s name at Global Credit Union, P.O. Box 3200, Spokane, WA 99220-3200. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions also be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
