A watchful citizen led police to a suspect in a break-in targeting military memorabilia at Felts Field early Thursday.

The witness called police about 6:30 a.m. after he saw a man later identified as Daniel J. Christensen, 30, removing large duffel bags stashed behind a concrete barrier at the airfield’s east fence, according to Spokane Valley police.

Christensen was arrested with two swords and a bag with U.S. Marine clothing and flight items he claimed belonged to his grandfather, police said.

But Christensen couldn’t identify the name stenciled on the clothing. Police say they belong to a FedEx pilot on assignment in Memphis today.

The pilot’s wife retrieved the stolen property.
