Reds blank Spiders; UI’s Jefferson signs
The Yakima Reds blanked the Spokane Spiders 3-0 in a Premier Development League soccer game played on Thursday night at Albi Stadium.
The Spiders (1-11-2) have two games remaining, both at home. The games are July 16 against Abbotsford and July 17 against Vancouver. The Reds are 4-8.
Basketball
Former University of Idaho player Marvin Jefferson has signed a pro contract with a French team, UJAP Quinper of the French National League.
Jefferson, a Western Athletic Conference All-Defensive Team selection, finished with the second-most blocked shots in school history.
In news about other former Vandals, Kashif Watson has been added to the NBA summer league roster for Golden State.
Mac Hopson was named the MVP for the National Athletic Basketball League and is playing for Battle Creek of the International Basketball League.
