Firefighters tackle two Idaho blazes

BLISS, Idaho – About 150 firefighters supported by an airtanker and two helicopters on Sunday were working to contain two lightning-caused wildland fires in southern Idaho near Bliss.

Fire spokesman Brock Astle said the 2,730-acre Windmill Fire five miles southwest of Bliss started Saturday afternoon, and the 2,240-acre Clover Fire about 10 miles north of Bliss started Saturday evening.

Astle said both fires are mostly burning in sagebrush and grassland managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

One firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at a hospital and released, Astle said.
