EVERETT – Perhaps finishing the season series with the Everett AquaSox on Monday is fortuitous for the Spokane Indians.
Picking up where they left off Sunday, Everett jumped on Spokane behind home runs from Hawkins Gebbers and Terry Serrano in the first two innings to lead the AquaSox to a 6-2 Northwest League win.
After Gebbers went deep to open the scoring, Mickey Wiswall hit an RBI single and Evan Sharpley’s run-scoring groundout spotted the AquaSox a 3-0 lead.
Chris Sorce (3-0) held the Indians’ offense in check, giving up two runs and walking one in six innings of work.
Michael Olt homered in the sixth for Spokane (11-12) and Jared Hoying added a run-scoring groudout in the seventh to make it 4-2, but the Indians got no closer.
Despite Monday’s loss and a 10-1 loss Sunday, Spokane finished the season series with a 6-4 edge. Everett (17-7) is 13-1 against the rest of the league.
Spokane looks to rebound against Vancouver at Avista Stadium tonight at 6:30 p.m.
