Grants fund housing in Spokane, Omak

A Spokane mental health group will receive nearly $1.9 million in federal funds to help pay for housing assistance.

The money is among a collection of grants totaling $550 million awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

According to a news release, Spokane Mental Health Coordinating Association will collect the money to support 15 housing units.

The Okanogan County Community Action Council, based in Omak, will receive $1.25 million to pay for 10 housing units for elderly persons who have an annual income of less than $22,400.
