Military is giving its best

The war in Afghanistan is now being compared to the Vietnam War. There are some interesting similarities between the two conflicts.

1. The Afghan government is weak, held in power by NATO forces.

2. There is no huge nationalistic movement among the Afghan population that opposes the Taliban.

3. The Taliban are a tough, veteran fighting force, with years of experience fighting Russia.

4. It is easy for the enemy to blend into the general population.

5. Rugged mountains provide tactical advantage and hiding places for enemy troops.

I support and respect our military personnel in Afghanistan. They are doing their best, in a tough place. I hope that we can look back at this conflict in 30 years and see that it was a wise use of our resources.
