Breezes to bring natural air conditioning

The July sun continues today through the weekend, but forecasters said the hint of a storm system passing through the region should kick up winds later today. A trailing edge of a cool front is expected to migrate from west to east across the region today, setting up a temperature and air pressure gradient that is ripe for wind gusts. Forecasters said those gusts could reach 25 mph this afternoon in the Spokane area. Highs today are expected to reach the middle 80s in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. Coeur d’Alene should be sheltered from the wind gusts, and is likely to see only breezy conditions with winds to 13 mph. The weekend weather is predicted to remain sunny and warm with highs in the lower to middle 80s. Weak storm impulses are possible at the start of next week, but they are likely to only bring passing clouds and maybe some breezes. Rain showers next week may arrive in the mountains to the north of Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, forecasters said. At 7 a.m. today, it was 62 at Spokane International Airport, 66 at Felts Field, 64 in Coeur d’Alene, 58 in Deer Park and 63 in Pullman.
