Keller Ferry back in service

From Staff Reports

The Keller Ferry across the Columbia River will go back into service at 6 a.m. today after spending a month in dry dock for maintenance, repairs and inspections.

Dakota Industries of Anacortes was prime contractor on the $607,000 job.

Marine engineers from the state Department of Transportation oversaw the work and the U.S. Coast Guard inspected and approved the vessel for operation, said Al Gilson, DOT spokesman in Spokane.

The ferry serves as a link across Lake Roosevelt on the Columbia River for state Highway 21 between Wilbur and Republic.
