In brief: Man exceeded rattlesnake limit

From Wire Reports

MALTA, Idaho – A Southern Idaho man who authorities say had 25 Western rattlesnakes in his apartment in Malta has been issued two misdemeanor citations by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

Terry Brian Teeter, 38, received citations in May that list possession, transport or shipment of wildlife.

Officials said Teeter had as many as 32 snakes, but he gave some away and cooked and ate two others.

Teeter said he was unaware a license is needed to hunt rattlesnakes in Idaho and that there is a limit of four rattlers a year.

Teeter said authorities confiscated the rattlesnakes and released them, but the next day he and a friend found the snakes and killed them.

Woman drowns in Puyallup River

SUMNER, Wash. – A 33-year-old woman drowned in the Puyallup River after slipping on rocks and falling into the water, authorities said Sunday.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner identified the woman as Shannon Hunter, according to KOMO-TV. Hunter slipped into the river around 9 p.m. Saturday night and was caught in the current. Her body was discovered about two miles downriver sometime later.

Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said Hunter was on the shore with some other people tossing cans of beer into a raft. Hunter was heading into the water to recover some cans that missed the raft when she slipped. She was not wearing a life jacket.
