Nowitzki officially inks deal to stay on with Mavericks

Nine-time All-Star Dirk Nowitzki has signed his new contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

Team officials released no terms of the deal. However, a person familiar with the negotiations had told The Associated Press when the agreement was reached earlier this month that the deal is for more than $80 million over four years, with a no-trade clause.

At 32, Nowitzki had opted out of the final year of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent for the first time, but he didn’t talk seriously with any other teams.

The 12-year NBA veteran has averaged 22.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and one block in 920 career games.

Celtics re-sign Robinson

The Boston Celtics have re-signed former University of Washington guard Nate Robinson.

The diminutive 5-foot-9 backup came to Boston at last year’s trading deadline. The contract was signed after an agreement was reached in principle last week.

Two sources told The Associated Press that the Milwaukee Bucks are in trade discussions with the Sacramento Kings to obtain former Washington Huskies forward Jon Brockman.

The deal would send forward Darnell Jackson and a second-round pick to Sacramento for Brockman.

Oklahoma City assistant general manager Rich Cho has been named the new GM of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Cho, 44, has been assistant GM for the Thunder for the past nine seasons.

Dwyane Wade issued an apology to those who may have been offended by his use of the phrase “World Trade” while answering a question about the upcoming Miami Heat season.

The All-Star guard made the remark Sunday before an annual charity basketball game.

Free-agent forward Matt Barnes wrote on his Twitter page that he has decided to play for the Toronto Raptors next season. … The Utah Jazz have signed guard/forward Raja Bell to a three-year deal worth about $10 million. … Center Jamaal Magloire has re-signed with the Miami Heat for the coming season. … Former NBA coaches Sam Mitchell and Larry Krystkowiak joined the New Jersey Nets’ coaching staff. … The Phoenix Suns have scheduled a “major announcement” today amid widespread speculation that agent Lon Babby will be named the team’s president for basketball operations.
