Spokane Fire crews now have control of a brush fire on the east side of Liberty Park near Sixth and Magnolia.

Spokane Police patrolling at Liberty Pool were notified of young people playing with lighters behind the facility before the fire began about 1:15 p.m., according to a spokesman. Officers were on scene.

The fire is along the Ben Burr Trail just southeast of Liberty Park.

No evacuations were required, although firefighters did move to protect structures, said Deputy Fire Chief Dave Leavenworth.
