Sheriff’s Office was notified of crash

Spokane County sheriff’s officials were notified Sunday following a fatal motorcycle crash at Spokane County Raceway.

Detective Dave Thornburg initially said the Sheriff’s Office was not notified after a crash at the Airway Heights motorsports facility in which a novice racer from Seattle was mortally wounded.

On Thursday, Thornburg said he learned that fire dispatch did notify sheriff’s officials about the incident.

Khalil Mohmed, 27, was racing in an event sponsored by the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association.

Officials with Raceway Investments, hired by the county to operate the racetrack, notified county parks officials and risk managers, law enforcement learned of the incident from fire dispatch.
