Young driver charged with vehicular assault

Staff reports
A recent high-school graduate was charged with vehicular assault following a Saturday night collision that injured five people. A Washington State Patrol report says Cheyenne L. Drinkhall, 18, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when her 1994 Jeep Cherokee plowed into another car on U.S. Highway 395 four miles north of Deer Park. The driver of the second car, Oscar J. Perry, 64, of Springdale, was taken by ambulance to Holy Family Hosiptal, as were two other people in his car, a 57-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy. A third passenger in Perry’s car, 18-year-old Brittany E. Ostlund of Spokane, was airlifted by Medstar to Sacred Heart Hospital. Drinkhall, who lives in Spokane, was treated for unspecified injuries at Holy Family. She had been released by early Sunday. The accident occurred when Drinkhall tried to turn off Highway 395 onto Wallbridge Road, where Perry’s car was stopped.
