Flash flood briefly blocks Highway 23

As much as 2 feet of standing water from a flash flood prohibited motorists from traveling down Highway 23 earlier this evening. At this time, the road is passable and the water level is receding, according to Washington State Patrol. The flooding is near mile post 54, about half way between Harrington and Sprague. The National Weather Service also issued a flood warning for North Central Washington, including Wenatchee around 6 p.m. due to a thunderstorm. They are warning travelers on Highway 2 and Highway 97 about standing water on roads and reduced visibility.
