Judge orders restitution in Medicare provider fraud

A Bonners Ferry, Idaho, woman was sentenced on Monday for Medicaid provider fraud after pleading guilty in Idaho 1st District Court to billing the government for patients who were not in her care. Carol Mouser, 35, a personal care provider, received a suspended sentence from Judge Benjamin Simpson of 45 days in jail and was ordered to pay $12,465 in restitution to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Mouser admitted submitting fraudulent progress notes on patients not in her care and receiving payment from Medicaid, the state and federal medical insurance program for the poor and disabled.
