Indians strike in ninth for win

EUGENE, Ore. – Outfielder Jason Kudlock had his biggest moment as a member of the Spokane Indians on Thursday night. Kudlock, who entered the night with just 35 at-bats and three runs batted in, hit a two-out, bases-clearing double to center field in the ninth inning to give the Indians a 4-1 Northwest League win over the Eugene Emeralds at PK Park. The hit scored Clark Murphy, who singled with one out; Josh Richmond, who followed Murphy’s hit with a double; and Brett Nicholas, who was intentionally walked to set up a potential double play. Aaron Everett (2-2) struck out Jake Skole for the second out, but Kudlock made Eugene pay. Spokane’s Ryan Rodebaugh relieved Tim Steggall (2-0) in the ninth and allowed a harmless single. The Indians, East Division first-half champs, knotted the five-game series at 1 apiece as the NWL enters its second half. Indians starter Chad Bell allowed three hits and one earned run in seven innings while striking out five. Bell pitched perfect ball until back-to-back walks to Luis Domoromo and Connor Powers to open the sixth. Bell got Domoromo on a forceout at third, but Powers later scored on another ground ball to tie the game. Michael Olt’s leadoff homer to center field, his fourth of the season, gave Spokane a 1-0 lead in the fourth.
