1980 all over again

After reading the article “Invoking Reagan may propel GOP,” I started thinking about Spokane’s local races. Who might fall into the category of a local Ronald Reagan? The only individual I could conclusively say would be our local Ronald Reagan is Michael Baumgartner.

Michael Baumgartner has rejected many of Bush’s failed policies, including going to Iraq as a diplomat in an attempt to get us out, rather than keep us in. He is someone who wants to properly prioritize our spending to most suitably support the greater good of Spokane and Washington state.

Chris Marr, the entrenched incumbent, has jumped right into the shoes of Jimmy Carter. Marr is a supporter of higher taxes and a signer of Obama’s Universal Health Care petition at a cost of $30 billion to Washington state.

The race for Spokane’s 6th District Senate seat seems to be a case of history repeating itself. The question is simple – are you better off now than you were four years ago? If near-record jobless numbers, a record state deficit, and being among the highest taxed in the nation are any indication, then the solution is simple, vote Michael Baumgartner, the responsible candidate for state Senate.

Support Mike. We don’t need a replay of Marr who, as the article says…has cost and will cost taxpayers more money and for what?Q?!?!?!?! Nobody knows.
Baumgartner is a well trained skillful, hands on rising star with his head on straight. Vote for him. We need a guy like him….to save the taxpayers from Marr’s spending higher tax ways.

DAZE; you are NOT included in the collective “we” as you do NOT live here…you can NOT vote here, not legally anyways…

So, Cliff, does Baumgartner show signs of dementia? Is he wanting to greatly expand the WA budget without paying for it (unfortunately for him, as a state we can’t run deficits like RR did). Is he willing to ignore depravity and human rights abuses in order to further the causes of his rich buddies? Does he think it would be OK for WA to sell weapons to the criminals in order to get them to promise to stop being criminals?

If this is true, then he does sound like an RR clone all right.

I am now an absentee voter J. Sorry. But dementia? Scout…Mike’s clear as a bell. ,..maybe you aren’t.
Baumgartner…I talked to him on the phone and grilled him two days ago. He actually took my call and spent 20 minutes talking. He took time.
He’s a very humble guy who only wants to serve like he has this past 15 years. Making things up and generating things Scout…very liberal of you. and SO WRONG!

Vote for him. He’s conservative, dedicated and smart.

Daisy, are you saying that liberals are the only ones who “make things up and generate things”?

Because that’s a claim I’d expect from a reactionary like Ann Coulter.

    Daisy..

Sorry you didn’t understand the literary device.

I was suggesting that RR was a horrible president, and to compare a contemporary with him is actually a disservice to the contemporary (in this case Bumgartner).

I’m quite sure Bumgartner is a fine man who is not demented and wants to do the right thing as a public service. It’s just that if that means doing things like RR, that’s bad news for us all.

Sometimes people have a hard time separating connotation from denotation.

As an Idahoan and having no cause to vote in Washington state, but I did think that the author of this letter went overboard in his smear and praise campaign. Which is why I came to comment. Perhaps the people who voted for Chris Marr are in a better position to determine if that elected official for the state would be a “Jimmy Carter” all over again or not. The same thing goes with any of his detractors.

However, to try to invoke Reagan without considering the history of Reagan’s presidency, some of it was good and some of it carried some heavy problems. To deny the existence of Reagan’s often failed foreign and domestic problems while trying to “invoke him” would be a mistake.

To try to “invoke him” with little to no understanding of the history of his administration is to create a myth. I am sure that Marr’s opponent, Baumgartner needs to run on something more solid than a myth.

Learn to read Keith. Thanx in advance.

Scout…it’s not a literary device. Sorry…splain it if you think it is. Mike Baumgartner is a very fine man…at least we agree on something. Vote for him unless you like Marr’s Gregoire’s and Lisa Brown’s debt. You’ll se more of that debt under Marr. Connotation? Uh…I think I got that. You apparently don’t.

Archie: rethink what you wrote. Perhaps the people who are real taxpayers who also bore the brunt of AND were given the debt would be in a these position to judge Carter /Marr. I think so anyway. We had to figure it out…
As far as RR and Cater goes…it wa RR who had to generate the money in the US to resolve Jimmy’s debt. I think that’s the point. It’s beyond dispute historically.

OKI…next? Any of you geniuses have more questions?

    Daisy..

You just keep drinkin’ that Kool-Aid, Sweetie.

The debt EXPLODED under RR because govt exploded under RR and he presided over the worst deficit spending we ever had until W.

Is that cherry flavored, Honeybuns? Do your research.

Wikipedia as a reliable, accurate, historical source? Sheeesh!

Doesn’t matter the portal, the facts speak for themselves about our debt. I was just providing a convenient starting point thru Wikipedia, but use whatever path you like.
