Drugs solution to budget pinch

I had a dream. I dreamed that state government legalized drugs and took over the selling of them at low costs. This resulted in prison populations being drastically lowered and costing taxpayers much less money.

It would free police departments to concentrate on robbery and violent crimes. It would cut the flow of illegal immigration, because the drug sellers wouldn’t come across our borders. The Mexican drug lords would be out of business and people could live in peace.

The young people here, not doing something illegal by using drugs, would have all the excitement taken out of it by having to go to the Health Department to get their drugs and receiving help to curb addiction. They might give it up before they start.

The state government would have this budget balanced and have surpluses. Those who insist on committing slow suicide by using drugs could go ahead and leave the rest of us in peace and prosperity.

The drug war is over. We lost.
