Parks plea goes too far

A person can’t even renew their license plate tabs anymore without somebody holding their hand out. In this case the Legislature’s donation program to keep state parks open. As it is so eloquently put, “If enough people participate, State Parks will remain open.”

Just when is enough enough? What happens if enough people don’t participate? What happens if enough money doesn’t come in? Are we to assume that all of our 100 state parks will be closed down and the land sold to the land developers’ highest bids? What happens to that not enough money from those not enough participants who chose to donate?

I realize it is only $5, but how much more will we be threatened with in years to come? We all love our state parks, but there are already fees imposed for about everything but using the outhouse. As stated in this pitch, we are in an economic recession. All the more reason to justify not being held hostage by threats of closure or donation.
