It’ll be a weekend of wine, food

Wine lovers: It could be another whirlwind weekend.

Whether you’re new to wine tasting, or looking for something new, Taste Washington can be an awe-inspiring event. More than 100 wineries gather to pour samples, and cuisine from more than 20 area restaurants and caterers is served.

A good way to plan your approach is by checking out the event website at www.tastewashington.org, which includes a handy list of participating wineries and the wines they’ll be pouring. There’s also a sneak peek of some of the tasty morsels that will be served.

Tickets are $75 per person. They can be purchased at Arbor Crest Wine Cellars, River Park Square, 808 W. Main Ave.; Latah Creek Wine Cellars, 13030 E. Indiana Ave.; Vino!, 222 S. Washington St.; and Williams Seafood Market and Wine, 10627 E. Sprague Ave.

Tickets also are available at the Davenport Hotel through the day of the event. For online ticket sales see www.tastewashington.org.

The Pour uncorks Saturday

Many area wineries warm up the night before Taste Washington with The Pour.

The dinner and auction at Arbor Crest Wine Cellars honors the memory and work of Dr. Michael Manz, the founder of Mountain Dome Winery.

When he died in 2006, Manz was associate medical director and attending psychiatrist for Sacred Heart Medical Center’s Psychiatric Center for Children and Adolescents. He also created the Behavioral Education Skills Training program at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, which continues to provide treatment and support for mentally ill children and their parents.

Money raised by The Pour benefits those programs.

The evening includes a five-course dinner by Romeo Herrera of Catered For You and wine from some 18 participating wineries. There are silent and live auctions including exclusive wine tastings and vacation packages.

Tickets are $150. There’s more information, including menu and ticket details, at www.thepour.info or call (509) 474-4594.
