One shot in northeast Spokane neighborhood
A neighborhood dispute turned violent tonight, leaving one man in critical condition from a gunshot wound.
The victim, who was not identified, was not expected to live, said Officer Jennifer DeRuwe, spokeswoman for the Spokane Police Department. He was undergoing surgery for multiple gunshot wounds tonight at a local hospital.
The shooting occurred in the 1600 block of East Mallon about 9 p.m.
Police have detained two men in the case, although their involvement is unclear, DeRuwe said. Both men were located in the neighborhood, she said.
At one point officers thought they had tracked the shooting suspect to a house near Mission and Napa, but a search of the home revealed the man was not there.
The investigation is ongoing.
