Government job where it’s at

The Spokesman-Review

Well, I guess it’s time. If we want your kids to have a future, we need to get them into the public sector and out of private enterprise. In fact, if you have 10 years or so of employability left, you should, too.

Already, six of the top 10 employers in Spokane are public entities. Then, in the Sunday paper, a headline read, “Federal workers’ pay unhurt by recession” with compensation increasing 58 percent since 2000 (average is now $120,000) while private industry had increased just 31 percent (average is now $60,000).

It was nice that President Obama froze the pay of 100 of his staffers, though. I’m sure that made a big difference (not). Yes, sir, it looks like it’s time we all go to work for the government, and I mean directly rather than through taxation. Of course, that would make us Greece-west in a few years. Or maybe Beijing-east? (Rant over.)
