Couple can face death penalty

The Spokesman-Review

SEATTLE – A King County judge says prosecutors can seek the death penalty against a couple charged in the slayings of six people in rural Carnation, Wash., on Christmas Eve 2007.

Michele Anderson and Joseph McEnroe are each charged with six counts of aggravated first-degree murder in the deaths of six members of Anderson’s family.

Defense attorneys had argued the state’s aggravated-murder statute is unconstitutional. Superior Court Judge Jeffrey M. Ramsdell rejected those arguments on Friday.
