Empire Foods armed robber wore mask

The Spokesman-Review
A robber wearing a mask and armed with a handgun took money from a clerk about 10 p.m. Tuesday at Empire Foods, 5434 N. Nevada St., Spokane police said. The robber fled on foot with all of the cash register money, which was placed in a black bag. A citizen who saw the fleeing robber chased him on foot for several blocks but lost sight of the gunman in the 1200 block of East Rowan Avenue. Spokane police attempted to apprehend the man by setting up a containment area and calling in a K-9 team to track the robber, but the trail ended where a getaway vehicle may have been waiting. The robber was described as white, about 6 feet tall and thin build. He was wearing a black coat, black hooded sweatshirt, a black mask and dark pants. He had the hood pulled over his head with a mask to conceal his face. The handgun was black. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
