New information has prompted Spokane police to re-evaluate a woman’s claim that she was raped early Saturday.
Detectives now believe the woman was not raped by a stranger and the attack is “an isolated incident,” said Officer Jennifer DeRuwe.
“We certainly don’t want people in the community to freak out that there’s someone preying on people in the community,” she said.
Police aren’t sure the woman’s description of her attacker was accurate. She told police she was attacked Saturday about 1 a.m. while walking near East Francis Avenue and North Crestline Street.
