More filings in area races
From the top of the ticket down, the Aug. 17 primary ballot got longer Wednesday as congressional and county races began to fill up.
U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, a Democrat, has six challengers filed against her, and that’s without any of the big-name Republicans officially in the race yet. U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers filed for another two years in Eastern Washington’s 5th District, and so did two announced challengers.
The Spokane County prosecuting attorney’s race also grew to four candidates with the addition of Jim Reierson, an attorney who lives in Spokane and works as a deputy prosecutor in Kootenai County. Reierson, who ran for the job four years ago as a Democrat, filed this year preferring “the Law & Order Party.”
Here’s a list of candidates who filed Tuesday and Wednesday for positions on Spokane-area ballots, and their party preference. Candidates who filed on Monday are included on a master list posted at www.spokesman.com/blogs/spincontrol/:
