BP’s pockets full of politicians

The Spokesman-Review

Looks like BP is running the show down in the Gulf, because they don’t want us to see or know too much. They already purchased their pro-corporate Republican politicians and are currently having a major drive to recruit more Democrats into their big happy polluting family.

Meanwhile, there are gag orders on reporters, the police and sheriffs’ departments along the Gulf have been co-opted and are dancing to BP’s tune: You can’t go here, you can’t go there, and if you want to know anything about the spill you go to the public relations tent with “BP” emblazoned across the top.

The fact is, BP killed 11 workers and has wiped out the livelihoods of millions for mere money. If corporations have become “people” in every sense of the word – at least according to the U.S. Supreme Court – then capital punishment is an option. If a mugger “accidentally” kills the person he is robbing, it is still murder. Certain citizens would slaver for his execution.

How is BP different? Oh, I forgot: BP already owns the people who make the laws. Power and money make the difference, and the worst greedheads among us have become the most powerful.
