Citizenship with pride

The Spokesman-Review

I came to the United States legally with my parents when I was 15. I had to reside here for five years before I could become a citizen. I prepared myself during those five years and as soon as it was possible I went before a judge, took my oral exam and was sworn in as a United States citizen. It was the proudest day of my life.

I am an American, not a Scottish American or a Canadian American. I am an American and I would be proud to prove it to anyone who asked. Let’s support our immigration laws and find a way to make it an easy process for immigrants to prove with pride that they are here legally.
