Restaurateurs entice with ‘Tunnel’ vision

Aptly named because of its underground location, the Tunnel Cookery & Drinkery is a new restaurant with a tempting menu at 2021/2 N. First Ave. (former home of Three Glasses) in downtown Sandpoint.

“Simple food cooked well at affordable prices with great beer and wine” is the Tunnel’s description by Adam Starchman, co-owner with Jeff Spencer. The menu includes appetizers of clams, oysters, naan pizza, portabella fries and bacon artichokes, several salads and sandwiches with sides, and entrees of seafood, steak, lamb ravioli and prawn linguini.

The Tunnel seats 75 customers at tables, booths and a large bar table. The upscale décor features the work of local artists. Starchman and Spencer have a combined 25 years of restaurant experience in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Spokane and Portland. They have five employees. Hours are about 4 p.m. to midnight daily. Phone (208) 255-4169.
