Furloughs will change school calendar in CdA

Teacher furlough days and embedded professional development time will change the Coeur d’Alene School District’s 2010-’11 schedule.

The revised calendar incorporates six mandatory days off without pay for all faculty and staff as part of measures the district is taking to balance its budget, officials said. The scheduled days are Nov. 12, Dec. 31; in 2011, Jan. 3 and 4, Feb. 17 and June 14. No one will be in the buildings those days, officials said.

The job-embedded professional development hours will be on Mondays in 2010-’11. All schools will start late: preschool and kindergarten, 10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.; KinderCenter 9:50 a.m. and 12:50 p.m.; elementary schools, 10 a.m.; middle schools, 9:10 a.m.; and high schools, 8:55 a.m.
