Rescued boy’s condition improves after house fire
A 5-year-old boy rescued by firefighters from a burning home on Friday has been upgraded to satisfactory condition, officials said.
Jerryth Wade Kilmer-Butler was pulled from the basement of the home at 1014 E. Princeton Ave. and was initially reported in critical condition.
Four others, including the child’s grandmother, suffered smoke inhalation when they attempted to rescue the boy before the arrival of firefighters.
Firefighters worked as a team to enter a pitch-black basement and bring the boy to safety. He was initially in critical condition and then improved to serious condition later that day.
