Three arrested in early-morning holdup

Spokane police detectives were searching a vehicle today to gain evidence in a brazen robbery on Tuesday in which one of three robbers fired a shot in the air as the thieves drove away, police said. Brandon L. Glore, 22, Frank R. Marusic, 20, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on Tuesday afternoon after Spokane patrol officers spent much of the day running down leads. The adults were booked into Spokane County Jail and the juvenile went to Spokane County Juvenile Detention. Officer Jennifer DeRuwe, police spokeswoman, said two of the robbers confronted a man as he was walking to work about 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Helena Street and East Desmet Avenue. One of them pointed a long-barreled rifle at the victim and ordered him to empty his pockets. He turned over cash and an MP3 player. Officers later recovered a rifle as well as some money. Glore and Marusic were scheduled to appear in Spokane County Superior Court this afternoon each on a charge of first-degree robbery.
