Ex-postal worker accused of theft

A former Post Falls U.S. Postal Service employee was indicted this week by a federal grand jury for allegedly stealing prescription painkillers from packages sent to U.S. military veterans.

Shamus Dean Lenon, 35, of Post Falls, was indicted on four counts of theft of mail matter, the U.S. attorney’s office, District of Idaho announced in a news release Wednesday.

Lenon is accused of taking prescription pain medication from packages sent by the U.S. Veteran’s Administration addressed to four Post Falls military veterans. The alleged thefts occurred between December 2009 and April.
