District to reveal budget plan today
Boundary County School District officials will announce today their plan to deal with a $250,000 budget shortfall.
On June 8, voters decided against closing Naples Elementary School to fill the budget gap. At a board meeting Monday, the school board took input from the community.
At 8 a.m. today, the board will announce whether there will be a maintenance and operations levy in August, said board chairman Melanie Staples. If passed it could boost the average homeowner’s taxes by $50 to $70 per year, potentially more for landowners, said Naples Principal Jim Nash.
The board will also announce whether Evergreen Elementary would be the school that closes if the levy fails.
