Spokane pools closed again today

The Spokesman-Review
The city has closed its pools today because of cooler temperatures and precipitation. Spokane County has closed its Southside Family Aquatic Center and suspended lifeguard service at the county beach on the northeast side of Liberty Lake. Although the city’s six aquatic centers, which opened Monday, are closed today, the Manito Park Bench Cafe is open. “Historically we have found that when the temperature is less than 65 degrees, people won’t come because it’s ‘too cold’ to swim,” said Nancy Goodspeed, a parks department spokeswoman, explained Wednesday. Safety also is a concern as the rain makes it difficult, if not impossible, for lifeguards to see a pool’s bottom, Goodspeed has said. Pool closures will be determined on a day-by-day basis, she said. Pool and splash pad closure information is available via an aquatics hotline at (509) 625-6960.
