Russia’s Husanov wins at NQC

Sherzod Husanov, the WBO’s ninth-ranked junior middleweight, scored a majority decision over John Berrio in a 10-round bout at Northern Quest Casino on Friday night, in a card that was broadcast by ESPN2.

Husanov (15-0-1, 7 KOs), a Russian fighter making his U.S. debut, bested Berrio, from Columbia, 98-92, 96-94, 95-95.

In the co-feature, Russian super middleweight Maxim Vlasov (18-0, 9 KOs) knocked out Jerson Ravelo (20-5, 12 KOs), a late substitute from Newark, N.J., at 1:12 of the third round. In a heavyweight bout, Jonte Willis (7-0, 3 KOs) outpointed Leo Bercier (8-13-1), another late substitute, in a four-round bout.

Prep basketball

Three Washington All-State Girls Basketball games will be held today at West Valley High School. The B’s square off first at 1:30 p.m., followed by the 1A’s at 3:30 and the combined 3A/2A teams at 5:30. Admission is $5 for all three games for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children under 12.

Colfax coach Corey Baerlocher will co-coach the East B team with Alyssa Goins of LaSalle. Freeman coach Ashlee Taylor will coach the East 1A team. West Valley coach Loren Carlon will coach the East 3A/2A team.
