Fairfield City Council – Council member Gary Gortsema has resigned from the council. Applications for his replacement are being accepted until June 29. Interviews will be held July 1. His term ends Dec. 31, 2011. The town is once again participating in the swim bus that picks children up from small towns to visit the pool in Tekoa. The weekly buses will run every Wednesday from July 7 to Aug. 11. The cost is $1.50 for swimming and lunch. Contact city hall for more information. Volunteers are needed for a cleanup day tentatively scheduled for July 5 at the Fairfield Cemetery. (Source: Town clerk Cheryl Loeffler)

Rockford City Council – Council members passed a flood damage prevention ordinance and a recipient agreement for the grant to pay for a well house addition project. A public hearing on the six-year Transportation Improvement Plan will be held on July 7 at the beginning of the council meeting. (Source: Town clerk Darlene LaShaw)
