UW wins energy grant
SEATTLE – The University of Washington has won a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to reduce energy use at Pacific Northwest hospitals.
The UW on Saturday said the grant will be used to create hospital and health facilities that cut energy consumption by more than 60 percent.
A team of UW researchers has shown their energy-reducing strategies add only about 2 percent in additional costs.
